What does $1,699 actually buy?
The CDJ-1500X is AlphaTheta's first budget-minded media player since the XDJ-1000MK2 shipped back in September 2016, and it doesn't feel like a stripped-down unit. It carries over the 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen from the CDJ-3000X, eight hot cue buttons, and a waveform display that flags vocal positions, BPM change points and phrase structure at a glance. Built-in Wi-Fi survives the cut too, which is what makes the rest of the spec sheet possible: rekordbox CloudDirectPlay and streaming straight from cloud libraries, including Apple Music, Beatport Streaming and Tidal. Retail lands around $1,699, roughly $1,300 under the CDJ-3000X flagship, according to DJ TechTools.
Why does CoBeat matter for the booth?
AlphaTheta paired the player with CoBeat, a crowd-request system built around a QR code. Clubbers scan it, browse a catalogue the DJ has pre-selected, vote on tracks, and fire off requests or messages that land directly on the CDJ's browse screen, per Attack Magazine. The DJ sees emoji reactions pop up on their phone in real time. It's the kind of feature that used to be a flagship-only flex; here it ships on the cheaper box.
"This is our biggest DJX yet, with more new gear on the floor than ever before." - John Powell, AlphaTheta Music Americas President
What does this mean for small and mid-size clubs?
AlphaTheta showed the CDJ-1500X alongside the XDJ-AN all-in-one system at DJX 2026, running August 10-13 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, at booth #115, its biggest showing at the fair yet. Since the 2025 edition of DJX, the brand has rolled out the CDJ-3000X flagship, the SLAB Serato Studio controller, the RMX-IGNITE effector, the DJM-V5 compact mixer, and now the CDJ-1500X and XDJ-AN. The pitch for the CDJ-1500X specifically is the booth that could never justify a pair of $3,000 flagships: mobile DJs, bars and venues running on tighter margins who still want cloud libraries and crowd interaction instead of an old XDJ-1000MK2 or a rival's cheaper deck.
