What's actually happening on October 1 and 2?
Global Underground's 30th-anniversary Ibiza takeover runs across two nights. October 1 opens at 5pm in the Garden Amphitheatre at 528 Ibiza, where Deep Dish and Guy J play the outdoor slot before the night moves inside to the Club at 11pm for Patrice Bäumel, Dave Seaman and James Zabiela. October 2 shifts to Café del Mar from 6pm, with Lloyd Barwood confirmed and more names to follow. One ticket, sold through Fourvenues, covers both dates.
"I'm really excited to be bringing such a stellar GU lineup to the White Isle for a very special Global Underground closing party on October 1st at 528, which is by far my favourite venue on the island with true Ibiza vibes," GU founder Andy Horsfield said in the announcement. 909's Stuart Hodson called it a way of "connecting that original spirit with where underground electronic music is today," while Kev and Phil Odger of WAV Liverpool, the third co-presenter, described it as "the next chapter of Global Underground's Ibiza story." Horsfield's "closing party" line refers to the island's early-October season sendoff, the wave of end-of-summer parties clubs run before shutting for winter, not to the label itself winding down.
Why does a mix-CD label need a nightclub in 2026?
Global Underground built its name on plastic, not on a residency. Andy Horsfield and James Todd launched the series in 1996 and turned it into the reference catalogue of progressive and deep house's export years, the DJ-mix format that traveled further than most club nights ever could. Thirty years on, the label is still active on record: this year alone brought GU49: Dublin from Deep Dish and GU48: Córdoba from Guy J. Putting its own name on an Ibiza date is a different kind of bet, and a fair one to question. A heritage brand booking a room for its 30th birthday is exactly the kind of move that splits a scene between people glad to see the old guard back on the island and people who see a catalogue cashing in on nostalgia.

Why 528 and not a marquee superclub?
Worth being precise here, because it's an easy assumption to get wrong: this is not the old Privilege building. That site reopened in 2025 as the hyperclub UNVRS. 528 Ibiza is a separate venue, in the hills above San Antonio on the former Zoo Project ground at Benimussa Park, relaunched under Ibiza Rocks Group leaseholder Andy McKay for summer 2025. It's an open-air site built around an amphitheatre and forest stages, not a glass-and-LED box, and that suits the brand better than a superclub booking would. Global Underground's whole identity ran on crate-digging and mixtape culture, not spectacle, so a hillside outdoor room lines up with the catalogue's roots more than chasing the same marquee slots as everyone else on the island in early October.
