What's actually on Breaking Point?
Josh Baker's new EP arrives four tracks deep, and every one of them points somewhere different. The title track, "Breaking Point," is a purely instrumental cut built around a hypnotic synth lead: it had already found an audience months before release, as a standout moment on the Amnesia Terrace during Baker's 2026 YOU&ME residency in Ibiza. "Over You," featuring London vocalist LEILAH, layers dreamy, silky vocals over Baker's club production for a big-room, emotive high point, and it's already become a fixture in his live sets. "House With Acres" swerves hardest: a UK garage and speed-garage cut with grime and garage MC Capo Lee on the mic. And "Your Star," with the established deep-house voice of Anabel Englund, pulls the EP back to the genre Baker built his name on.
The release lands on Baker's own YOU&ME label, under exclusive license to Three Six Zero Recordings, catalogue number YM051. It's his first full project since late 2025.
Why stack garage bars, dream-pop and a deep-house diva on one record?
Most producer-run labels stay narrow on purpose: a deep house imprint sells deep house, a garage label sells garage, and the audience knows exactly what it's buying. Breaking Point does the opposite. Baker is using his own label to argue that a single dancefloor, and a single artist's fanbase, can hold all of it at once: the instrumental club tool, the vocal-led emotional peak, the MC feature that belongs on a pirate-radio playlist, and the deep-house tradition that predates all of it. iHouseU, reviewing the EP on release day, called the title track's synth lead "a standout moment on the Amnesia Terrace throughout Josh's 'YOU&ME' Ibiza residency," which is the clue to what's actually happening here: these tracks were tested on a real crowd before they were ever a tracklist.
Baker built YOU&ME as a label and an event brand at once. Breaking Point is the label's first real stress test.
Why does this land now?
The EP closes out the biggest year of Baker's career: Coachella, Parklife, a headline slot at Reading & Leeds, Creamfields and the Ibiza residency that road-tested this record's lead single. That's a lot of momentum to spend on a four-track release that refuses to pick a lane, but it's also exactly the moment an artist has the audience to try it. Baker takes YOU&ME to The Warehouse Project in Manchester for two nights in October, then to North America in November, so Breaking Point isn't a closing statement so much as the calling card he's about to carry into the next stretch of shows.
