What did Kabza De Small actually launch?
A second label. On Thursday 9 July 2026, Kabza De Small introduced TechHub at a live event at Zioux Sandton in Johannesburg, and the next day he confirmed its first signing on Instagram: producer Jnr SA. Per The Yanos Magazine, which broke both stories, TechHub runs through Sony Music Africa, the exact same distribution deal that already backs Kabza's existing imprint, PianoHub.
"Officially launching my new label @techhub_rsa. Proud to announce @official_jnrsa as the first signing."
That's not a subsidiary or a joint venture with another producer. It's the same artist, twice, under the same major.
Why does one producer running two labels matter?
Because amapiano's commercial infrastructure is still thin enough that a handful of names control most of the pipeline into major-label distribution, and Kabza De Small just became the clearest example of it. He's already the genre's most bankable act and, with DJ Maphorisa, co-founder of Scorpion Kings, one of the two or three names most responsible for pushing amapiano past South Africa's borders. Doubling his label footprint under Sony Music Africa means more of the next generation of producers now has to pass through him specifically, on terms he sets, to get major-label backing.
That's a different kind of story than another single or another festival slot. It's the plumbing of the genre changing hands, and it's changing hands toward one person.
What happens next?
Right now, not much to independently verify: TechHub's roster is one producer deep, and Kabza hasn't detailed release plans, A&R strategy, or whether PianoHub and TechHub will compete for the same talent or split by sound. What's confirmed is the structure: two Sony-distributed amapiano labels, one owner.
