Why does a Moodymann booking at Teatro Pereyra matter?
Kenny Dixon Jr. does not turn up often, and almost never in a room like this. On Saturday 13 June 2026, Moodymann played Teatro Pereyra for the first time, a historic, heritage-protected theatre in Ibiza Town that holds a fraction of what the island's hangar-sized clubs pack in. The Detroit producer built his name on KDJ and Mahogani Music threading deep house through soul, funk and the city's Black musical lineage, and he carries a reputation for letting the music, not the show, do the talking.
That reputation is the whole point of the booking. This was the opening night of El Baile Pop, the new residency from Keep On Dancing, the Ibiza collective that turned 10 in January 2026. Their pitch is plain: sessions built around the records, an honest connection between the booth and the floor, and the simple pleasure of dancing, without the conventions that govern most of the island's rooms.

Around Moodymann, the lineup kept the collective's regulars close: resident Nesta, Andrea Fiorito back to back with Janina, and Radio Love, the pairing of Kieran Behan and Stikkio Sound, holding down the La Danceteria room. The theatre's bones do the rest. You can see the booth, you can hear the detail, and the distance between the artist and the crowd is measured in metres, not in the price of a table.
An honest connection between the booth and the floor, and the simple pleasure of dancing. That is the brief, and it is a quiet rebuke to everything else opening this season.
How does this fit Ibiza in 2026?
It fits by refusing to. The 2026 season is the premiumised one: vast rooms, table minimums running into the thousands, a tourism model that sells proximity to a DJ as a luxury good. Putting a press-averse Detroit lifer who plays rarely outside his own city into a small heritage theatre, on a night whose only promise is the music, is a deliberate counter-argument. It says the other Ibiza, the one that was here before the bottle service, is still bookable if someone with taste does the booking.
