What actually changed since the beta?

Serato DJ 5.0 entered public beta on September 9, 2026 with three headline features: Lucid Beatgrids, Open Streaming and Cue Loops. Serato has now pushed the software to a full stable release, and added something the beta announcement never mentioned: a standalone Serato DJ app for iPhone and iPad, live now on the App Store.

That is the real news. A rebuilt beatgrid engine is a workflow fix. A full DJ app on a phone is Serato deciding the booth is no longer the only place a set gets built or played.

Why does a DJ app on a phone actually matter?

Algoriddim's djay has run on iOS since 2011 and built a mobile-first crowd that Serato never chased. Serato's angle is different: it already owns the club. Serato DJ for iOS supports more than 120 controllers, mixers and turntables from AlphaTheta, Pioneer DJ, Rane, Numark, Hercules and Roland, including DVS-enabled timecode vinyl control, so a DJ who already mixes on Serato gear in a booth can plug the same hardware into a phone and get the same engine, the same crates, the same cue points.

iOS Transfer carries tracks, crates and metadata straight from the laptop. The pitch: prep a set at home, finish it on a train, play it off a phone through a controller at the gig. Serato is calling the push "DJ Everywhere," fronted by A-Trak, Miss Milan, Nick Cheo and Magie Hue.

"Inspiration is everywhere for me. When a mix hits me out of nowhere, now I can just pull out the app." - Miss Milan, Grammy-winning DJ and producer

What's actually new under the hood?

Lucid Beatgrids is Serato's attempt at ending years of manual grid-fixing: a rebuilt engine that auto-detects downbeats and tracks tempo changes inside a single file, including the fluctuating-BPM live edits and recordings that have always broken auto-gridding software. Open Streaming lets a DJ log into Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL, SoundCloud and Beatport at the same time and pull from any of them mid-set, instead of picking one service and living with it. Cue Loops, a Pro-only feature on both desktop and iOS, saves a loop onto a Hot Cue pad so hitting it jumps the playhead and fires the loop automatically, no manual loop re-trigger needed.
