UVI's Falcon has spent a decade as the instrument sound designers and film composers reach for when they need depth: 28-plus oscillator types, more than 120 effects, modulation routing deep enough to lose an afternoon in. It was never built with a dancefloor in mind. Falcon 2027, which shipped October 8, doesn't change that reputation on its own, but the expansion riding alongside it does.

What's actually new in the update?

Falcon 2027 adds four oscillators (West Folder, FM Explorer, Spectral Stretch and Sample Mapping) and ten effects, among them a Lowpass Gate, a dedicated Wavefolder, FET and Feedforward compressors, a Steiner Filter and an analog BBD delay and chorus pairing that pushes further into vintage-circuit modeling than Falcon has gone before. A new Data Envelope modulator and 140 presets round it out, alongside a reworked module browser that UVI says was overdue.

None of that is radical on its own. Plenty of workstations have added a wavefolder and called it a day. What makes the release worth a second look is who UVI built the companion expansion for.

Why does Savage 2 matter more than the oscillator list?

Savage 2 is explicit about its target: macro-controlled patches for drum and bass, bass music and mainroom techno. That is a direct play for club producers, a crowd Falcon has historically sat adjacent to rather than inside. UVI has sold bass and techno sound packs before, but pairing one with the flagship's biggest update in years signals the company sees real demand from the floor, not just the studio.

Falcon's modulation depth was always wasted on a one-knob bass preset. Savage 2 is UVI betting that producers will actually dig into it instead of just loading a patch and moving on.

The other two expansions, Particular (MPE-ready, built around modulatable XY pads) and West Fold (built on West Coast synthesis), stay closer to Falcon's usual sound-design lane. Savage 2 is the odd one out, and that is the point.

What's the actual cost of getting in?

If you already own Falcon, a SonicBundle license or a SonicPass subscription, the 2027 update is free. New buyers pay $149 through October 26, 2026, half the regular $299, with a $100 voucher toward UVI soundware thrown in. The expansions are $39 each on their own, but UVI is running a buy-one-get-one-free promo through the same October 26 deadline, so picking up Savage 2 effectively buys a second pack for nothing until then.
