Why leave Lee Valley Showground now?
For its first 17 years, Eastern Electrics ran out of Lee Valley Showground, a sprawling site well outside central London that suited a driving crowd more than a Tube one. This year it skips that venue entirely and lands inside the city proper, at Burgess Park between Camberwell, Walworth and Bermondsey, one of inner South London's largest green spaces. It also skips 2025 altogether: Sunday, August 9 marks the festival's first outing in a year, and organisers haven't said publicly why the gap happened. Founder Rob Star's framing leans forward, not back.
"It's our 18th year of putting on parties and this lineup is as good as any."
Why does a relocation matter for London's dance scene right now?
Eastern Electrics isn't the only London festival that spent the last two years fighting for its footing. Wide Awake paused its 2026 edition after a High Court challenge over Brockwell Park's use for commercial festivals, and We Are FSTVL was cancelled outright in 2024 when Barking and Dagenham council ruled its Dagenham site unsafe after heavy rain. Neither case is Eastern Electrics' own story, and its organisers have not linked their own year off to either one. But the backdrop is the same: London's councils and courts have gotten sharper about who gets to run a big outdoor party and where. A festival choosing to move deeper into the city rather than retreat further out reads, to promoters watching from the sidelines, like a bet that a well run event can still clear that bar.
Who's actually on the bill?
Four stages carry the day, each with its own lane rather than a genre free for all. The Main Stage is topped by The Martinez Brothers, with Joseph Capriati going b2b with SOSA and Mau P b2b Dennis Cruz. Four Corners leans into garage and bass with Skream b2b Patrick Topping alongside East End Dubs, and The Plant Room gets a Groove Armada DJ set. Doors run 12:00 to 22:00, tickets are £35 to £65 through Resident Advisor, and organisers are projecting a crowd of more than 40,000 across the site.
