Factory Floor went quiet after 2016's "25 25" and never explained why. Ten years is a long silence for a band once pitched as the UK's sharpest answer to industrial techno, all metal-on-metal percussion and four-to-the-floor menace. Now they're back with "One Trip," due on Phantasy Sound, the label Erol Alkan built on his own left-of-centre taste, on November 27, with a vinyl pressing following on December 4.

What took Factory Floor so long?

Per Clash Music (October 27, 2026), the band traces the comeback to a booking they could have played safe: a slot at Montreal's MUTEK festival. Rather than wheel out the old setlist, Gabe Gurnsey and Nik Colk Void started writing new material around it, and the sessions kept going once the festival ended.

"After the MUTEK performance, we felt an appetite to work in a space where artists could connect emotionally and physically, both in the studio and on a live stage."

Who's actually playing on "One Trip"?

The lineup has shifted since "25 25." Gurnsey and Void remain the core, Void on modular synth and vocals, Gurnsey on drums, percussion and electronics, but Joe Ward has joined on additional percussion. It's the first Factory Floor record to carry his name, and the first new lineup the band has put on tape in a decade.

Where can you hear it first?

Ten tracks deep, "One Trip" runs "Continuation," "Big Brain," "DruuuuM," the title track, "Buzz Saw," "Between You," "One Two One," "Obsessed," "Souuuu:D" and closer "Greedy." The double single leading it, "Continuation" / "One Trip," is out now, the first taste before the full record lands, streaming now on Bandcamp.

Factory Floor play the Barbican in December supporting Squid, with a full UK tour pencilled in for April 2027.
