South Sudanese-Australian producer Skin On Skin has put out "Someone Like You" on his own imprint, Stay On Sight Recordings, October 8. It is his first proper single since 2025's "Home Is True," a mixtape built around human connection and life lived in constant motion.

Why did he sit on a finished track all summer?

Before "Someone Like You" had a release date, it already had a résumé. Skin On Skin worked it into his DJ sets across the season, and in August it closed the main stage at Amsterdam's Dekmantel Festival, one of the biggest rooms a dance producer can play. That is not an accident: an unreleased track earning a festival mainstage closing slot is a producer letting the floor vet the record before it ever touches a store page, a quieter version of the old white-label dubplate test, just done with a laptop and a festival slot instead of a pressing plant.

"'Someone Like You' has become a highlight of his sets, a moment of bliss and euphoria that carries his evocative painterly touch."

That's Clash's read on the track, and it lines up with what both Mixmag and Northern Transmissions heard: a tech-house record built for peak time, not a club curiosity.

Who made the video?

The clip is directed by Nick Astanei, with Skin On Skin himself handling creative direction and co-editing, and graphics from Jericho Marcel. Running his own label means Skin On Skin controls that whole chain, from the mix to the credits on the video, which is part of why Stay On Sight has become a reference point for artists who would rather own the release than hand it to someone else's imprint.

What comes next?

"Home Is True" was a big, personal statement; "Someone Like You" is tighter and built to move a room, which tracks with an artist who spent his summer stress-testing it on some of the biggest floors in Europe before letting anyone else hear the finished version.
