Zamna Just Brought Its Jungle-Rave Format to India. Does That Validate the Underground, or Just Import a Brand?

What exactly happened in Bengaluru and Kolkata?

Zamna In The Club, the indoor arm of the Tulum-based festival brand, ran its first India dates back to back: Friday, August 14 at Cavore in Bengaluru, then Saturday, August 15 at JW Marriott Hotel Kolkata. Both nights started at 7pm, ran 18+, and sold tickets through District from roughly 3,000 rupees in Bengaluru and 2,500 rupees in Kolkata. Zamna frames the format on its own site as a concept where "the raw spirit of the jungle merges with club culture, indoor clubs, lasers, underground sounds and state of the art production, creating an unmistakable and magnetic experience."

Why does a Tulum jungle-rave brand matter here?

Zamna isn't dressed-up EDM. It launched in 2017 around a cenote stage cut into the Tulum jungle and built its name on melodic house, afro house, deep house and melodic techno, the register that brought Keinemusik, Bedouin, Black Coffee and Francis Mercier to that stage. Its most recent New Year season there ran 12 days and drew more than 120,000 people from over 100 countries, and the brand has since added dates in Barcelona, Miami, New York, Ibiza, Milan, Sao Paulo, Dubai and Malta. In 2026 alone it also picked up a Zamna x Primer tie-in in Athens and a Zamna-branded stage at Untold, so Bengaluru and Kolkata are landing in the middle of a genuinely global expansion, not a one-off detour.

What's actually new about this India stop?

India isn't new to Zamna's map. The brand's full open-air festival first toured the country in September 2024, with dates in Mumbai and Gurugram that put Mind Against and Giorgia Angiuli alongside Indo Warehouse founders Kahani and Kunal Merchant on the same bill. What's new in August 2026 is the format: a smaller, recurring indoor club series instead of a single annual outdoor spectacle, and a bet that Bengaluru and Kolkata can each carry their own night rather than sharing one big date on the calendar.
